Watch the baby elephants being fed their bottles, and then follow the herd down to the river for their daily bathing, watch them enjoy the water with plenty of photo opportunities.

Kandy is the best place to buy stones, although Sri Lanka does not have diamonds, it has sapphires in every colour of the rainbow, as well rubies and emeralds.

Sigiriya (Lion Rock) is almost 200m high and best climbed in the mornings to avoid the mid-day heat.
There are steps all the way to the top and you can climb up in less than an hour. At the top you can still see the enormous lion legs that formed part of the palace that was built at the top by King Kasyapa in 477CE.
You will pass painted rocks on the way and with fantastic views from the top this ancient palace and world heritage site is not to be missed.
