Venice is of course, just as stunning, pretty and charming as you imagine – the perfect place for a magical romantic long weekend.
Budget flights make it easier than ever to take the short trip. Then just hop on the alilaguna (direct public boat) to Venice itself to begin your picturesque adventure.
Venice itself is made up of 118 islands, which are separated by canals and linked by over 400 bridges (The Bridge of Sighs and Rialto Bridge are must sees).
You will, at least once get lost, it is impossible not to – but on the plus side it is perhaps the most beautiful place in the world in which to do so. An iPhone and google maps are essential. That blue spot is crucial in negotiating the labyrinth of intricate gothic architecture, especially as you will find you have to stop every 20 paces to take another photograph.
St Marks Square (Piazza San Marco) is obviously a must and trips to the Islands of Murano (famous for glass blowing/making) and Burano (a rainbow of colourful fisherman’s houses) are also a must.
We recommend wandering around, soaking up the sights and sampling the delicious local food – whats not to love!
