Its that time of year when there needs to be a holiday on the horizon and we at Juliet Dunn are rather torn.
We spend most of our waking moments surrounded by silks in jewel colours, fresh cotton summer dresses and images of impossibly beautiful bloggers on deserted pink sand beaches.
On the one hand I want to head straight to the most instagrammable beach and bathe in the sun with 42 different JD outfits that are all pre planned and surely those cocktails could be expensed if I get the right photo…?
On the other hand
If I see another beach dress or another turquoise swimming pool….!
So, it’s to the mountains and the snow that I look. Same fresh air but fresher? Same awesome views but more awesome? Same sense of calm and yet more still?
What do you think… Snow and Skiing or Sun and Sand?
Whatever your preferred type of holiday I am sure we can all agree that the more trips away the better so below is our mini spring guide to a snow mini break and a sun destination.
We have also included a few wish list brands to complement Juliet Dunn elevate your snow style. Yes, you heard right we may be talking snow but you can still use your versatile Juliet Dunn pieces and make them work for you anywhere!
Escape to Schloss Elmau
With stunning mountain landscapes, trees covered in snow and frozen lakes with romantic icicles framing them, this retreat and wellness spa hits all the right notes. A magical snowy Narnia for deep relaxation. (Also the scene for the G7 summit some years ago!)
If you want to ski then you are in a super area set up to cater for all levels but for a change, this is not the only activity on offer. St Elmau likes you to take everything at your own pace and doesn’t suggest early starts!
Walking along fabulously beautiful mountain trails up to restaurants and authentic Bavarian huts is equally as exhilarating as Langluffing, sledging or skiing. As long as you make it somewhere for lunch in the sun and a view from the top of the world.
The hotel is one of excellence and has a Michelin starred restaurant to hand and one of the most bountiful breakfasts I have ever seen. All that aside the real treat of this place is the wellness spa. There must be about 12 different sauna and steam rooms (some with crystals emitting detoxifying minerals to help you sleep or stay awake) and the piece de resistance are the two outside infinity pools…I am not sure whether keeping them this warm is great for the environment but the view out onto the white landscape is quite staggering. After a bit of breathing to take in this view and watch the pool steam into the cool air take yourself off to yoga, have a treatment or simply curl up in an armchair with a blanket in a relaxation room! Pure bliss.
Just forty five minutes drive from Innsbruck airport or just over an hour from Munich you are well connected and can easily make this a long weekend destination.
For the relaxation room or a bit of Jivamukti yoga, pull on a pair of Juliet Dunn hand embroidered beach pants and team with a Madeline Thompson skinny cashmere jumper
For evenings, a bit of silk or velvet cleverly layered with Juliet Dunn and you can’t go wrong! Try our Mirrored Jewelled Harem Trousers for an early evening game of backgammon.
Big Raey knits over the opulent silk mirrored maxi dress teamed with Ganni snow boots and you will have it covered.
